Gear oil
Gear oil is made specifically for transmissions, gearboxes and differentials in cars, larger machinery and industrial applications. They often are quite viscous to better protect the gear.
Product consists of a base oil mixed with different additive components Their main task is to reduce wear and tear on components by greasing, cooling, cleaning and protection against corrosion. Type of base oil used are dependant on which task the oil is meant for.
Analysis:
An analysis of gear should reveal wear metals, contamination or additive elements plus chemical and physical properties of sample. By comparing the these values with new oil and/or previous samples from the same systems we are able to form a opinion of the current state. It can also be beneficial to evaluate larger particles in regards to wear pattern.
